BARANEC 2184 M.N.M.
Baranec is the 3rd highest peak in the Western Tatras - Roháče and is known for its beautiful views not only of the Žiarska Valley, but also of the entire Tatras and Liptov. The best way to climb Baranec is the circuit, which starts at the mouth of the Žiarska dolina and continues along the yellow mark along the ridge over the top of Baranec to Žiarské sedlo, from where you can go down Žiarská dolina next to Žiarská plies to Žiarska chata. Baranec also offers great opportunities for spring skiing in Jarný žlaba, which opens not far from Žiarská chata and allows you to ski legally in May.
